Chapter Eleven

Cole~

I stay and watch the sun set. It’s so peaceful out here. Now, if only I could get some of that peace to settle inside of me.

Walking into the Inn delicious aromas assaults me and my stomach growls. I haven’t eaten in a long while and I’m definitely not the kind of man to starve myself. I change my shirt and take the stairs down to the kitchen. The place is quiet. I might just grow to like it.

“Aww, come on!” I hear Bridget groaning from the kitchen.

What I see makes my lips curve into a huge smile. She’s in almost the exact same position as the night before, just minus the ladder. Standing on a chair, she’s trying to reach the corner of the ceiling with a bottle. I smile when I see the spider.

“If you jump on me you are so dead! Like uber dead! I don’t want to kill you. Come on, be good,” she groans, practically begging the spider. As the spider moves towards the bottle, her lips start to curve into a small smile. “There you go … almost. Yes!” She stretches her body for more length and all I see are her legs and tight ass.

I swallow hard as heat rushes through my body. Being in the desert for so long and seeing a woman as fine-looking as Bridget stretching, yeah, that kinda does things to a man.

“Yes, you little sweetheart!” she shrieks happily.

Her face lights up as the tiny spider crawls into the jar and then Bridget dances. She leaps off the chair and arms in the air she starts to shake her hips, making my mouth water instantly. She’s wearing shorts, cut-offs, and oh my fuck, you can fit a diamond between her thighs.

She twirls around and stumbles to a halt when she sees me gawking at her like some pervert.

“Ah …”

Yeah, exactly what I was thinking.

“You want me to throw it out,” I say, looking for any excuse to get close to her.

I walk right up to her, keeping her eyes locked with mine. She swallows hard and nods, but she clasps the jar tightly to her chest, not handing it over. She had the same reaction the first time I saw her at school. She looks so innocent.

I tilt my head and keeping a safe distance I only take hold of the jar. She lets go instantly, as if it’s burning her. Her eyes dart away over my shoulder.

The first day I met her I thought she was shy, just another new shy girl. Shy girls blush. Bridget doesn’t blush. She goes as white as a ghost. Why didn’t I see it for what it was - fear?

I want to say something reassuring, but I don’t want to scare her away, so instead I smile at her.

When I come back from setting the spider free out front, Bridget’s leaning over a pot, slowly stirring the food. She looks as if her mind is miles away. I clear my throat so I don’t scare her, but she doesn’t hear me.
